MRT Jakarta 99 Percent Complete One Month before Launch

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The construction of the capital’s much-anticipated Mass Rapid Transit’s (MRT) phase one has reached 99.06 percent on February 25, 2019. MRT Jakarta is targeted to operate on March 24, 2019.
“Some 99.04 percent for the construction of depots and elevated parts, while 99.08 percent for the underground sections,” said MRT Jakarta in a release Tempo received on Friday, March 1, 2019.
To date, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has yet to set the tariff for the MRT. The governor said he was still canvassing the matter with the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD Jakarta).

Anies said the discussions were necessary as the MRT tariff would receive subsidies from the capital’s budget (APBD). Anies was upbeat the discussions would not defer the MRT’s operational target.
“So we hope the schedule will not change and tariff will be announced immediately,” he said.
Anies Baswedan was non-committal when asked about how much the tariff was. He could not promise either if the tariff would refer to PT MRT Jakarta’s recommendations of Rp8,500-12,000.
