TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Indonesian Retailers Association (Aprindo) Roy Nicholas Mandey said that modern retailers in the country would apply paid plastic bag program starting today, March 1, as a support to one of the government’s visions on reducing 30 percent of plastic waste.
“We have committed to reduce disposable plastic bag and tackle negative environmental impacts of plastic waste,” said Roy on Thursday, February 28.

The price customers should pay for a single plastic bag, Roy added, would be on the hand of each retailer. However, the minimum charge is Rp200 per piece.
“The cost of a plastic bag is up to retailers, but the minimum is Rp200 as we have applied in 2015. We suggest consumers use a reusable shopping bag that is available in every modern retail store,” he underlined.
