Sriwijaya Air Lowers Ticket Prices up to 40 percent

1 March 2019 11:31 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Flag carrier Sriwijaya Air has lowered its airfare up to 40 percent for a number of domestic flights. The fare reduction is valid for departure date in March until April 2019.

Sriwijaya Air CEO Joseph Adriaan Saul mentioned that the flights include a round trip of Jakarta-Makassar in a bid to support the development of the smart city program.

“[Makassar is] the pilot project for smart city program and innovation in Indonesia, so a lower airline fare will give huge influence for the progress of the nation and the country,” said Joseph in a press release, Thursday, February 28.

In addition, Sriwijaya aimed at raising the traffic in connecting cities because Makassar is listed as one of the Indonesian hubs that have the potential to boost the economy.

Other than Makassar, the airliner reduced the price of flight ticket for Jakarta-Palembang route to Rp662,000 for a single trip. Whereas, Jakarta-Makassar flight ticket is set to around Rp1,330,000. Based on Tempo observation, several online travel agent offered the same price as issued by the carrier.

Joseph assured that Sriwijaya Air would maintain the passenger security and convenience despite the lower airfare, which is started to take effect on February 28 until April 2019.
