TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (Indef) economist Bhima Yudistira Adhinegara explained that the digital technology helped boost the growth of micro, small, and medium businesses (SMEs).
According to Bhima, Indonesia’s economic structure is still dominated by SMEs adding up to 62.92 million listed businesses and the existence of digital technology is hoped to accelerate the industry to a higher level.

“The communication and informatics ministry and the SMEs and cooperation ministry targeted eight million SMEs to go digital in 2019. It would be impossible for the government to work alone, which highlights the role of the private industry including banks to help accelerate the digitalization of SMEs,” said Bhima in the iPreneur talk show held in Bantul, Yogyakarta today, Feb. 28.
Furthermore, Founder of Busana Mandiri Corporation Rifki Ali Hamidi said that SME owners must be willing and have the audacity to utilize numerous digital platforms in improving their businesses.
