Prabowo Ready to Assure Ahmad Dhani`s Detention Suspension

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A lawyer of prominent musician Ahmad Dhani, Ali Lubis, claimed that a number of national figures, including Prabowo Subianto, are ready to be a guarantor for the detention suspension of his client. Ahmad Dhani is currently detained in Medaeng Prison, Surabaya.
Ali said that his team would submit the suspension of detention request to Jakarta High Court with the House of Representatives (DPR) deputy speaker Fadli Zon as the guarantor.
“We submit a request of detention suspension today with Fadli Zon as the guarantor,” said Ali via a phone call Wednesday, February 27.

Other than Fadli, Ali mentioned, several figures are also willing to suspend Ahmad Dhani’s detention, including presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto, Titiek Soeharto, Amien Rais, Fahri Hamzah, Joko Santoso, and others from the national campaign team of Prabowo - Sandiaga.
According to him, those figures are ready to be guarantor as they deemed Ahmad Dhani was innocent for charges on hate-speech accusations issued by prosecutors. Besides, the request made by his client’s family was rejected.
The South Jakarta District Court on January 28 found Ahmad Dhani guilty of spreading hate speech on social media and sentenced him eighteen months imprisonment. Ten days after detention in Cipinang Prison, he was moved to Medaeng Prison last Thursday to undergo legal proceedings on a defamation case.
