UI, ITB, ITS, IPB, UGM Rank Best Universities in Asia Pacific

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Five of Indonesian universities listed in top universities in Asia-Pacific regions as announced by Times Higher Education (THE), the magazine behind the world’s most influential university rankings.
The five universities are namely University of Indonesia (UI), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), and Gadjah Mada University (UGM).
In a release issued February 2019, UI ranks 131-140 position. The ranking includes more than 300 universities across East Asia, South-east Asia, and Oceania.
“In global, UI ranks 601-800 based on 2019 THE World University Rank,” said UI spokesperson Rifelly Dewi Astuti Monday, February 25.
Rifelly said that UI climbed to top 100 from previously at 191-200 place issued last year. “Other than UI, Indonesia is represented by four other universities; ITB (191-200 ranking), ITS (201-250), IPB (251-300), and UGM (251-300).”
Globally, ITB ranks in 801-1000, while UGM, IPB, and ITS are above 1001.
THE’s Asia-Pacific University Ranking 2019 uses a special methodology in analyzing the ranking; citations 30 percent, industry income 2.5 percent, international outlook 7.5 percent, research 30 percent, and teaching 30 percent.
