Jokowi to Depart to Cilacap Today to Deliver PKH Program

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi is scheduled to deliver social assistance dubbed Family Hope Program (PKH) and non-cash food assistance program (BPNT) to 1,257 families or beneficiaries (KPM) in Cilacap Regency, Central Java today, February 25.
“President will meet, have dialogues with women or beneficiaries of PKH and BPNT. He really concerns on the two programs and willing to directly hear suggestions from the people,” said Social Affairs Ministry's director general of social security and protection Harry Hikmat in a press release today.

He explained that the president will arrive at 11:00 local times at Patra Graha building, Cilacap Regency.
A total of 1,257 people comprised of 500 group leader of PKH representatives from 16 districts in Cilacap Regency, 757 beneficiaries from three districts of Central Cilacap, North Cilacap, and South Cilacap, and 243 PKH and BPNT human resources will attend the event.
“President Jokowi will also monitor an exhibition of home business products produced by women members of Kelompok Usaha Bersama or Kube (joint business group) of PKH,” Harry added.
In the first phase of 2019, the government earmarked a total of Rp92 billion for PKH social assistance for 77,745 families and Rp15 billion for 141,758 families in Cilacap Regency.
The Family Hope Program (PKH) is a priority program initiated by the government in a bid to alleviate poverty and economic inequality. In 2019, the government increased the PKH budget to Rp34.4 trillion from previously Rp19.2 trillion in 2018.
