Village Officials' Wage Raise in 2020 Equivalent to Civil Servant

21 February 2019 06:52 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government officially announced it will raise the wage of village officials to equal that of Level IIA Civil Servants (PNS) starting from the year 2020.

However, Presidential Staff Deputy II Yanuar Nugroho said that the complete wage adjustment equivalent to PNS Level IIA will only be granted for those at the position of Village Head. Other positions below that will be 90 to 80 percent adjusted.

“Village heads and other village officials will receive wages ranging from Rp2.02 million up to Rp3.82 million,” said Yanuar in a written statement on Thursday.

The decision will only be effective at the start of next year after the wage equalization goes through House of Representatives’ (DPR) scrutiny since it will source its funds from the State Budget (APBN) and the Regional Budget (APBD) of every province and districts.

This latest policy was initiated by a collective effort across State Ministries from the Coordinating Ministry of Human Development and Culture, Finance Ministry, National Development Planning Minister, Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Minister, and the Home Affairs Minister.
