Prabowo`s Team Failed to Provide Sufficient Data in Facing Jokowi

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Prabowo Subianto’s campaign team (BPN) deputy Priyo Budi Santoso admits that his team failed to provide Prabowo with sufficient data to be used in Sunday’s presidential debate.

According to Priyo, the BPN team was caught off-guard by Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s aggressive style of debate.

“We did not expect [Jokowi] to be this aggressive. We were caught off-guard because we mainly talked about several compelling ideas,” said Priyo at the Prabowo – Sandiaga media center in South Jakarta on Tuesday, February 19.

The incumbent Jokowi managed to present a number of data regarding corn production and imports and also the total distance of roads built in rural areas.

Contrast to Jokowi, Prabowo Subianto talked about general issues during the debate and because of the team’s lack of preparation for him, Prabowo was forced to acknowledge Jokowi’s statistics data presentation and agree to some of them in few occasions.

However, Jokowi’s statistics were debated by a number of institutions within a couple of minutes such as Greenpeace. A number of media fact-checkers highlighted the flaws behind the incumbent’s claims.
