TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Head of the 2018 Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) Erick Thohir expressed his appreciation toward Indonesia’s move upon signing up to host the Olympics 2032.
He said that it concurs with his initial plan to make Indonesia host the Olympics after successfully hosting the Asian Games 2018.
“If asked about preparedness, I am certain that Indonesia will be ready,” said Erick in his press release on Tuesday.

His optimism is without reason, which is proven from the fact that Indonesia managed to hold the Asian Games last year under a tight schedule. Other than the Olympics, Erick mentioned the 2023 basketball world championship that is set to be hosted by Indonesia in conjunction with the Philippines and Japan.
Indonesia has officially applied to host the Olympics 2032. On Sunday, the Indonesian Ambassador in Bern, Swiss, Muliaman D. Hadad handed over a letter from President Joko Widodo to Thomas Bach, president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), in Lausanne, Switzerland.
