TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan threatened to impose punishments for those who abuse President Jokowi’s land certification distribution program through extorting the certificate's rightful owners.
The penalty, said the governor, will not only be imposed on ‘dirty’ community headmen but also ordinary people that attempt to demand illegal levies from land certificate owners.
“We will sanction anyone involved in the violation,” said Anies Baswedan on Tuesday, February 19.

However, Anies did not go into details on what sort of punishment people would face, but Jakarta Regional Secretary Saefullah assured that community heads will be fired if proven guilty of extortion.
One case that saw a land certificate receiver being extorted happened in South Jakarta where three residents claimed to be asked ‘administration fees’ from Rp3 million to Rp60 million to obtain their rightful land certificates.
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s land certificate distribution is essentially free of charge, but Jakartans might have to pay for several actual administration fees that cost no more than Rp150,000.
