KPK, Australia Discuss Corruption Prevention in Private Sector

19 February 2019 10:36 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) met with Australian Ambassador Gary Quinlan on Monday, February 18. Among the issues discussed during their meeting was the prevention of corruption in the private sector.

"We talked about corruption prevention programs, especially corruption prevention programs in the private sector," KPK deputy Laode M Syarif said in Jakarta, Monday.

Laode said private sector corruption was a common concern between Indonesia and the Australian government. Soon, Indonesia and Australia will sign an economic cooperation.

"We hope that Australia's investment in Indonesia will run in good condition," he said.

Laode also said the KPK is working with the Australian government in terms of prosecution. One of them is to track down assets resulting from corruption. "The assets are now under the supervision of the Australian government," he said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Quinlan said he would work with the KPK to prevent corruption. Australia, he said, is ready to provide support—including enhancing the competence of KPK staff.

"We are working together to improve the business climate," he said.
