BMKG: M 5.9 Earthquake Strikes East Java`s Southern Coast

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) announced from its official Twitter account of a magnitude 5.9 earthquake hitting East Java’s south coast at 02:30 western Indonesia time (WIB).
The quake’s epicenter is known to originate from 9.68 south latitude and 112.79 east longitude, which is 159 kilometers southeast of Malang District. Meanwhile, its hypocenter was at the depth of 10 kilometers.
The earthquake was felt at Lumajang, Karangkates, Blitar, Sawahan, Kuta, Nusa Dua, and Malang. BMKG reported that the quake did not produce any tsunami threat.
