Ma'ruf Amin on the Debate: Prabowo Good, Jokowi Exceptional

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice presidential candidate Ma’ruf Amin gave his assessment on the presidential debate last night between his running-mate Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and the opposition’s Prabowo Subianto.
Despite acknowledging that Prabowo performed admirably, Ma’ruf maintains Jokowi had the upper-hand and performed exceptionally better.
“Yes, Pak Prabowo was good, Pak Jokowi performed preferably better,” said Ma’ruf right after the second presidential debate yesterday on Sunday.
He argues that Jokowi’s superior performance was down to the incumbent mastering substantial aspects discussed in the debate. Upon the praises mentioned several times by Prabowo during his exchanges with Jokowi in the debate, Ma’ruf Amin said that it is appropriate.
“It's the result of Jokowi mastering everything, he has the experience, he has executed them. Not just reading books but he does the work,” said the non-active Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) chairman.
