TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) slams attempts of smear campaign against incumbent Presidential candidate Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, which affiliated him with U.S. consultant Stanley Greenberg and ties to Israel.
The Party claimed that the smear campaign is a premeditated political attack that cannot be considered as a usual hoax attack.
In return, PSI Spokesman Daniel Simeon Tumiwa accused the Prabowo – Sandiaga Uno team of designing this false information. Daniel said that the well-calculated hoax is different to the spontaneous hoax involving Ratna Sarumpaet.
"This defamation related to Greenberg was planned two years before, far before the presidential election began," said Daniel in his written statement on Friday, February 15, 2019.
Daniel broke down the components that he claimed were intentionally published to support the smear campaign such as the fake English-language website political-strategist.com that houses information about Jokowi being one of Stanley Greenberg's client.
"This piece of information is absent in Greenberg's official website," said Daniel.
Daniel explained that the website address is intentionally made to resemble an actual political consultant website owned by Roland Vincent, thepoliticalstrategist.com.
"PSI considers the Stanley Greenberg scandal as a serious moral violation that was done by political actors to tarnish Jokowi's reputation," Daniel continued.
