TEMPO.CO, JakartaMass Rapid Transit (MRT) Jakarta will be offering the public to try the MRT train before its inauguration at the end of March 2019. The people can try riding on it starting March 12.

"We’re setting the website for registration. People may want to check MRT’s website as they have to fill out a form," MRT Jakarta CEO William Sabandar said at the City Hall, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, Feb. 13.

William explained that after registration, people will get a Quick Response (QR) code required to get on board the MRT. The QR code should be printed.

He expected around 28,000 would register to try riding on the MRT even though William said that the quota was unlimited. The number is based on the approximation of MRT’s carrying capacity.

"There is no quota [of passengers], you can just register yourself [to try the MRT]," William said.

The progress of MRT Jakarta's first phase has reached 98.7 percent. William is optimistic the MRT, named Ratangga, would be officially opened for public on between March 24 to 31, this year.

However, the MRT tariff has yet to be determined. William said that it would be integrated with the tariff of other transportation modes such as Transjakarta, BRT, Jak Lingko, and LRT.
