TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will question two House of Representatives' (DPR) members Jazilul Fawaid and Djoko Udjianto. The legislators will be questioned about the bribery case with suspect Taufik Kurniawan, the House's deputy speaker.
"They will be questioned as witnesses for suspect [Taufik Kurniawan]," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said on Tuesday, February 18.
Jazilul Fawaid is a member of the DPR's Law Commission from the National Awakening Party (PKB) Faction. Djoko Udjianto is from the Democrat Party Faction, member of the Education Commission. Both of them had sat in the DPR's budget body.
The KPK charges Taufik for allegedly receiving Rp3.65 billion from inactive Regent of Kebumen, Mohammad Yahya Fuad. The bribe was allegedly given so that would help Taufik Kebumen obtain a special allocation fund in the 2016 state budget.
Yahya Fuad was suspected to have given the money to Taufik in two meetings at hotels in Semarang and Yogyakarta. There was going to be a third payment, but that was thwarted by the authorities as the suspects were arrested during a sting operation on October 15, 2015.
Through his attorney, Taufik Kurniawan has denied accepting the bribe.
