TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The private water operator PT PAM Lyonnaise Jaya or Palyja was reluctant to comment on the option taken by Jakarta provincial administration that planned to take over the city water management.
Palyja’s head of Corporate Communications & Social Responsibilities Division, Lydia Astriningworo, said that her side is still waiting for further discussion with city-owned water operator PD PAM Jaya in light of the matter.
“We cannot say much until talks and discussion with PAM Jaya results in definitive conclusion,” said Lydia in a written statement, Monday, February 11.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan earlier assured that the city administration would administer the water management from previously handled by PT Palyja and PT Aetra Air Jakarta. The plan is one of three alternatives recommended by his team. The other options are buying shares of the private firms and terminating the work of contract unilaterally
To expedite the taking over of the Water Treatment Plan (WTP), Anies demanded PD PAM Jaya CEO Bambang Hernowo draft head of agreement with the two private corporates.
Palyja, Lydia added, appreciated the intention of Jakarta administration to take over the city water management, and so the firm would canvass the issue with PAM Jaya.
