Jakarta to Run `Lintas Jaya Traffic Operation` for a Whole Year

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan determined to raise the traffic compliance rate in the capital city up to 20 percent by launching Lintas Jaya Operation for a whole year.
“Last year, the rate increased by 8 percent, hopefully, this year will be higher,” said Anies in Monas, Central Jakarta, Monday, February 11. “The Transportation Agency targets the hike by 20 percent.”
Anies mentioned that the traffic accident in Jakarta was quite high and most of them caused by people who did no comply with speed limits and traffic signs. Through the operation, he added, traffic violator would be ticketed.
The acting head of Jakarta Transportation Agency, Sigit Wijatmoko, explained the operation will be carried out in main roads and terminal areas.
The traffic monitoring on main roads, Sigit said, will be conducted by using Google Maps and Waze. While in the terminal areas, the agency will discipline ticket brokers, monitor tariff and administration requirement from the public transportation operator. “We will deploy 700 officers from TNI (Indonesian military) and Police for Lintas Jaya Operation,” Sigit concluded.
