TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 212 alumni brotherhood (PA 212) chairman Slamet Maarif reportedly became a suspect after a photo of a summon letter issued by Surakarta Resort Police was circulated.
Surakarta Police criminal investigation unit chief Comr. Fadli was reluctant to provide comment regarding the legal status of Slamet. “Ask the police chief,” said Fadi when asked for confirmation on Sunday evening, February 10.
Meanwhile, Surakarta Resort Police Chief Sr. Comr. Ribut Hari Wibowo has not yet responded to a short message sent by Tempo as of press time.
On the letter, Slamet was summoned for an investigation on Wednesday, February 13 for allegedly violating Article 280 of the Law on Election. The article stipulates a ban on running a campaign outside a designated campaign period.
Slamet allegedly conducted a campaign during his speech in a mass event held in Bundaran Gladak, Solo last month which was established by PA 212 of Solo Raya.
The Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) of Surakarta had clarified his speech as a violation that then examined by the police. In the examination last week, Slamet Maarif who was called as a witness was grilled for six hours with 57 questions.
