  • TEMPO.CO, JakartaBefore thousands of alumni of Jakarta high school students, presidential candidate number 01 Joko Widodo or Jokowi said that he is ready to bet his position for the country when the government strived to take over foreign shares of oil and gas company.

“I’ll put all my positions, all my reputations at stake, for the sake of the country, this nation, and the people,” said Jokowi at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday, February 10.

Jokowi reiterated that he was tired of being accused as a henchman for foreign parties. Thus he recalled the government’s success in taking over the Rokan Block, Mahakam Block, and acquired most of the shares of PT Freeport Indonesia that he deemed as uneasy tasks.

“Do you think taking over such huge asset is easy? If so, that should have been done in the past [by the previous government],” he noted.

Jokowi said that his opponent usually underestimated him, and so this is time for him to speak up to tackle those opinion. “When I was called as a henchman for foreign countries, I remain silent, but now, this is my time to speak up,” he said.

“Don’t think that President Jokowi is thin and so he is coward, they think I’m not brave, I don’t want to talk much, I want to work, work, and work every day,” Jokowi underlined.
