TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Trans Jabar Tol, a subsidiary of PT Waskita Toll Road, has begun constructing section 2 of the Bogor-Ciawi-Sukabumi (Bocimi) toll road, which spans 11.90 kilometers. The new section is a continuation of Section 1, which has been operational since December 2018.
PT Trans Jabar Tol Director Muhammad Sadali said that the land acquisition process for Section 2, which connects Cigombong and Cibadak, has reached 65 percent. Sadali added that the company will continue to conduct land acquisition as construction works progress.
"We have begun construction on January. We construct two bridges, which has previously approved by the Bina Marga Directorate General," Sadali said as quoted by Bisnis.com on Friday, February 8, 2019.
The Bocimi toll road will stretch as far as 54 kilometers in total.
Waskita Toll Road is planning to extend the toll road’s roadbed as far as 30 kilometers up until Ciranjang area in Cianjur. The extension will be stated in the Toll Road Management Agreement amendment.
Sadali said that the construction of section-2 is targeted to be completed in mid-2021. PT Trans Jabar Tol will also make efforts to acquire land for section-3 (13.70 kilometers), and section-4 (13.05 kilometers), which currently had only reached 5 percent.
The Bocimi toll road construction had been planned since 1996. The toll road concession rights is currently owned by PT Bukaka Teknik Utama.
The 1998 economic crisis caused the toll road construction to be postponed. The concession was once held by Bakrie Group, which later transferred to MNC Group, and currently acquired by Waskita Toll Road in 2015.
