TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Truck Business Association (Aptrindo) expressed disappointment with the high tariff of the Trans Java Toll Road by refusing to use the newly-built highway.
The Aptrindo deputy head, Kyatmaja Lookman, viewed the toll fee, amounting to Rp1.5 million, was too pricey for truck drivers. “Up until now, we have not used the Trans Java Toll Road,” said Kyatmaja via a phone call today, February 8.
Kyatmaja said albeit the toll road could cut half of the travel time, the high price could affect goods delivery processes.
According to him, 60 percent of the time spent on delivery processes was used for loading goods, while the rest for trips.

“That means the Trans Java Toll Road only affects the goods delivery by trucks by 20 percent. So what is the use of spending more than Rp1 million if its impact is only 20 percent?” Kyatmaja noted.
Truck drivers under Aptrindo, he added, had continued to cross the Pantura (Java's northen coast) highway despite its longer travel time until date. Moreover, the route has become smoother after the opening of the Trans Java Toll Road as many private vehicles prefer to pass the new toll road.
