TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A number of photos, which is circulated on the internet, shows the recent condition of the musician-cum-activist Ahmad Dhani in prison. South Jakarta District Court Monday, January 28, sentenced Dhani to a year and six months imprisonment in a hate speech case.
Dhani was found guilty of spreading information meant to create hate or spark hostility in the society based on a certain ethnicity, religion, and race or known as SARA through his Twitter account.
The recent photos were shared by the spokesman of the National Campaign Agency, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, via his personal account of Instagram and Twitter on Monday afternoon. “I and all members of BPN pray and believe mas @AHMADHANIPRAST (Ahmad Dhani) is strong,” Dahnil noted.
The photo showed Dhani, wearing a Javanese typical cap blangkon and dark t-shirt and jeans, sat on a blue mat with dozens of people assumed as inmates.
Dhanil confirmed the photo and allowed the media to publish it. However, when asked about the latter’s condition, the former head of Muhammadiyah youth wing did not comment further. “I don’t have the information yet,” he said.
Ahmad Dhani was named a suspect following a police report lodged by Jack Lapian on March 9, 2017. Jack is known as the founder of BTP network and an avid supporter of former Jakarta governor Basuki “BTP” Tjahaja Purnama during the 2017 Jakarta gubernatorial election.
