TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Rejang Lebong Regent Ahmad Hijazi said he planned on forming a task force to specifically handle money politics in April’s 2019 general elections.
“This is to avert money politics in the upcoming general elections,” the regent said on Sunday, January 27.
He added when the plan had been carried out residents in Bengkulu province would be able to report money politics and receive Rp10 million as a reward during both the legislative and presidential elections.

Ahmad said he would canvass the issue with the local General Elections Commission (KPU), Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), police, Prosecutor’s Office and District Court on the plan’s implementation.
He also called on residents in Rejang Lebong’s 15 districts to refuse money politics and report the perpetrators to the local police.
“This is to create a conducive situation in the community ahead of and after the 17 April elections,” he said.
