TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf Kalla or JK monitored several points of traffic jam in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek or Jakarta Greater Area) boarding Superpuma helicopter.
JK took off from the helipad at National Monument or Monas today at around 08:00 local times, accompanied by Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Public Works and Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, and Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.
“[The monitoring lasts] for 45 minutes. VP will air above Slipi, Semanggi intersection, Jagorawi Cawang area until Taman Mini and Cililitan,” said VP spokesperson Husain Abdullah in a written statement, Monday, January 28.
The entourage also moved to Cikunir to monitor Tambun toll, then heading to Cakung, East Jakarta before inspecting Tanjung Priok Toll, North Jakarta. The last destination is Pantai Indah Kapuk to then return to Monas.
The monitoring was a follow-up order issued by President Joko Widodo or Jokowi in a cabinet meeting held on January 9 regarding transportation management. Jokowi planned to improve the management of transportation in the capital city and its vicinity to alleviate severe congestion.
The President expected the intramodal and intermodal integration and so appointed JK as the coordinator to handle the transportation issue that involved across regions and institutions.
Post the monitoring, JK along with ministers hold a meeting upon a discussion of the monitoring result on traffic jam.
