TEMPO.CO, Boyolali - Adi Soemarmo Airport in Boyolali was shut down for more than an hour this morning due to thick fog. Airport official said that the fog shortened visibility to around 200 meters, making it impossible for pilots to operate aircraft.
"Things are back to normal now," the airport's PR officer, Danar Dewi said in Boyolali, Thursday, January 24.
Danar said that at the time of closure three airlines, Citilink, Sriwijaya, and Lion Air had to delay their flights. Citilink and Sriwijaya were flying to Jakarta while Lion Air had two flights bound for Jakarta and Denpasar.
"Passengers were very cooperative, they understood that the delay was due to bad weather. There were no protests," Danar said.
Meanwhile, a Garuda flight from Jakarta had to wait before it could land on the airport's runway safely.
The airport was reopened at 07:23 local time, which was when visibility was back to normal at some 1.6 kilometers.
