Anies Congratulates Basuki `BTP` Tjahaja Purnama Upon Release

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Following the release of Basuki “BTP” Tjahaja Purnama from prison, former rival in the 2017 gubernatorial election and current Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said he has not planned a schedule to meet BTP.
“I have no plans yet,” said Anies Baswedan at City Hall in Central Jakarta on Thursday, January 24.
Anies continued by congratulating BTP for his prison release as of today. He said that the Jakarta administration is required to facilitate each and every Jakarta residents.

“Congratulations on gathering again with family members,” said Anies.
Basuki “BTP” Tjahaja Purnama was released from the Police Mobile Brigade Detention Facility (Mako Brimob) in Depok this morning at 07:30 western Indonesia Time (WIB). His eldest son, Nicholas Sean Purnama, was there to greet the former Jakarta governor.
BTP stayed behind bars since May 9, 2017, after being found guilty of blasphemy case that arose during the heated 2017 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election.
