TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 10.8-kilometer railroad overpass connecting Medan-Bandar Khalipah in Deliserdang District located at North Sumatra is planned to be fully-operable in April 2019.
“There was a slight delay from the initial plan. But that was for the project’s security reasons, especially later on when it is completed,” said M. Yusuf, Head of Transportation Ministry’s Head of Infrastructure Section, Engineering Hall on Wednesday.
He said that they only need to wait for the installation and completion of the railroad overpass project. The team needs to only install a 4-kilometer track out of the total of 10.8 kilometers.
Yusuf said that the railroad overpass will reduce 48 train traffic frequencies each day. “This overpass railroad will be a great help upon reducing railroad traffic,” he said.
Meanwhile, state-run railroad operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) spokesman M. Ilud said that they have worked together alongside Baltek to complete the project in time.
