TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok planned to run oil business and hosting a talk show on television after he is freed from his jail sentence this January.

Ahok’s attorney Teguh Samudera in Jakarta said that the business had been long planned.

“After being released, Pak Ahok will likely run a business of oil trading as discussed previously,” said Teguh, adding that his client is currently looking for office space in HI Roundabout.

Teguh further mentioned that his client would sign a contract with a private TV station to be a host of a talk show program.

However, he could not confirm whether Ahok would re-enter politics, saying that it would depend on the situation and condition.

“If it’s his time and is needed to return [to politics] for the national interest, for the sake of the nation and country, he [Ahok] will adhere to it and will not refuse to back to politics,” Teguh underlined.

When asked about the possible marriage of Ahok, Teguh was reluctant to comment. “It will be informed later because it is his private rights that we cannot talk about before [listening to] his explanation,” Teguh added.
