Survey: Jokowi Earns Best Perception during First Election Debate

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A pollster Kedai Kopi executive director Kunto A. Wibowo said that the presidential hopeful number 01 Joko Widodo or Jokowi obtained the best perception during the first presidential election debate, surpassed the other three candidates.
Kunto explained that 56.6 percent of respondents were in favor of Jokowi’s performance during the session. “While the performance of candidate number 02 [Prabowo] received 23.9 percent votes,” said Kunto during a discussion event at Ajag Ijig in Central Jakarta, Tuesday, January 22.
Following Prabowo, vice presidential hopeful number 02 Sandiaga Uno earned 12 percent votes for the best performance category, and Ma’ruf Amin ranked the last with 0.6 percent votes.
Kunto further explained that Jokowi earned 54 percent for the best perception due to his clear explanation during the session, followed by Prabowo 27 percent, Sandiaga Uno 10.7 percent, and Ma’ruf Amin 1.9 percent.
Jokowi was also deemed as the most capable of answering questions. “A total of 55 percent of respondents said that Jokowi is better, while 32.3 percent chose Prabowo,” he added.
In addition, the incumbent candidate has better vision and mission (50.7 percent) when compared to the opponent’s (31.7 percent). However, as many as 12.2 percents of respondents were still confused about both candidate pairs’ vision and mission.
However, Prabowo - Sandiaga bested the incumbent pair for offering new ideas with 45.9 percent of votes.
Kedai Kopi survey was conducted within 16 to 18 hours post the first election debate via phone calls and Whatsapp messaging app. The data was collected from its previous study in 2018 amounted to 2,499 respondents. From the figure, only 230 people who watched the session responded to the survey that had a margin of error at over 4.55 percent.
