TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Central Jakarta Corruption Court will continue the trial of alleged bribery in the Riau-1 steam power plan project. Today's hearing will bring in Eni Saragih, the former deputy of the House of Representatives' (DPR) Energy Commission.
"The agenda of today's hearing is the questioning of defendant Eni Saragih," Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutor Lie Setiawan said on Tuesday, January 22.
The KPK charges Eni of accepting Rp4.75 billion in bribes from businessman Johannes Budisutrisno Kotjo. The KPK alleges that the bribe was given to help Kotjo's company secure the Riau-1 PLTU construction project.
Eni is also charged with receiving gratuities worth Rp5.6 billion and Sin$40,000 from a number of company directors in the oil and gas sector. The KPK suspects that at least three entrepreneurs gave money to Eni.
The KPK has called in a number of witnesses to Eni Saragih`s trial, including Johannes Budisutrisno Kotjo, the former Golkar party chairman Setya Novanto, former Social Minister Idrus Marham.
Johannes and Idrus are also defendants in this case, both me have separate case files.
