Police Spread Family Photos to Lure Ali Kalora Terror Group

21 January 2019 17:33 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police’s Tinombala Task Force used family photos of members of the Ali Kalora-led East Indonesia Mujahideen (MIT) as posters to lure MIT members into surrendering.

“The Tinombala Task Force is currently launching a preventive measure until January 29, and the poster is one of our strategies,” said National Police spokesperson Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo in the National Police headquarters, South Jakarta, Monday.

The police spread the photos of relatives of Ali Kalora group—besides the photos of the group's members—by land and air. “So when they (MIT members) come home, we will instantly arrest them,” Dedi said.

The military's Babinsa (village supervisory non-commissioned officers) personnel and the police's Babinkamtibmas personnel (village security and public order officers) have been deployed to keep an eye on the houses of the terror group's members on a non-24-hour-surveillance.

Dedi said this strategy had gone through prior deliberations, and that the family members had not been excluded from the society as the public was cognizant of the situation.

The Tinombala Task Force was still hunting down the MIT following the shootings of two policemen who were carrying a mutilated body in Salubose, Salubanga village, Parigi Moutong (Parimo), Central Sulawesi, on December 31.

The victim has been identified with initials only as RB, 34, a civilian. The injured policemen were Chief Brigadier Andrew and 2nd Brigadir Baso.
