TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism spots in Central Java and Yogyakarta are thriving after numerous locations in the provinces were used as movie sets in popular local movies.
“After the movie Ada Apa Dengan Cinta (AADC) 2, many flocked to Yogyakarta. The people who watched the movie seemed to want to relive the movie’s adventure,” said Tiket.com marketing head Gaery Undarsa on Thursday, January 17.
He said that the AADC 2 film inspired many of its viewers and fans to relive the visual moments in the film, which featured renowned actress Dian Sastro.
“Destinations that were never heard of before in Yogyakarta are now teeming with tourists,” said Gaery.

Among the locations are Klinik Kopi, Lokal Resto, Oxen Free, Bu Ageng Restaurant, Papermoon Puppet Theatre, Villa Sunset, and Sellie Coffee. There are also a few places in Magelang, Central Java, such as the Rumah Doa Bukit Rhema and Punthuk Setumbu.
Gaery opined that millennials were attracted by the visual appearances of the attractions across Yogyakarta. “What was not a tourist destination is now viewed as one,” he said.
