TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) scheduled another set of questioning sessions for five members of the Bekasi Regency DPRD related to the Meikarta bribery case. They will be questioned as witnesses to inactive Bekasi Regent, suspect Neneng Hasanah Yasin.

KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said on Friday, January  that the five members of the Bekasi DPRD were Edi Kartubi, Yudi Darmansyah, Kairan Jamhari Jinsan, Namat Hidayat, and Aden Saalin Relan.

Yesterday, the KPK also interrogated five members of the Bekasi DPRD for the same case, but as witness to suspect Neneng Hasanah Yasin. The members are Abdul Rosid Sargan, Sarim Saepudin, Haryanto, Suganda Abdul Malik, and Nyumarno.

The KPK suspects that money was channeled to the Bekasi DPRD members, and it is connected to the alleged Meikarta bribery. The KPK said that the DPRD members had returned Rp180 million, of which Rp70 million came from the Bekasi DPRD speaker.

The KPK believes there are more DPRD members who received money—used to fund their trip to Thailand, with family members of the legislators being taken along.

The KPK said they knew which DPRD members went on the trip to Thailand. The antigraft body is now investigating the connection between travel funds and the change in spatial rules in Bekasi Regency, since the Meikarta Project is impossible to do without changing the spatial rules, which the local council members are in charge of.

The KPK suspects there are people who forced the rules to be revised. "We will investigate who," Febri said.

So far, the KPK has named Bekasi Regent Neneng Hasanah Yasin and four Bekasi officials as suspects, charging them with allegations of accepting bribes to ensure that the Meikarta project is pushed through.

The bribe was given by former Lippo Group boss Billy Sindoro and three Lippo Group employees. Billy and company are currently being tried at the Bandung Corruption Court.
