3 TNI's Elite Troops Ordered to Handle Urban Warfare

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -The Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto said that TNI’s elite forces have the ability to face terrorist threats in urban areas.

“The elite forces are capable of urban terrorist warfare. I ordered them to develop their training on urban warfare,” said the TNI Commander in a press meeting at the Ministry of Defense in Jakarta yesterday, January 16.

The elite forces are the Kopassus, Marine, and Kostrad.

TNI Commander Hadi maintained that urban warfare needs the support of new age weaponry technology such as high-frequency equipment along infrared and thermal detector technologies.
