TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The pair of presidential and vice presidential hopeful Prabowo - Sandiaga Uno has revealed vision and mission regarding the legal and human right issue for the 2019 presidential election. The candidate number 02 drafted an action program that assures people’s independence in conveying opinion and assures people’s constitutional right.
The Prabowo - Sandiaga pair did not mention unresolved cases of severe human rights violations. The National Campaign Agency of Prabowo - Sandiaga spokesperson, Siane Indirani, said that the camp will focus on the human rights in the economic, social, and cultural sector.
“The subject of vision and mission will point more human rights in the economic, social, and cultural sectors, as well as employment, education, and health which recently become public’s concern. Aside from that, we will later see in the debate,” Siane told Tempo in December.
The researcher of the Missing Persons and Victims of Violence Commission (Kontras), Rivanlee Anandar, opined presidential and vice presidential hopefuls, Jokowi - Ma'ruf and Prabowo - Sandiaga, are selective in the issue about human rights. Both pairs only touched on human right issues that will benefit them for the election and avoided other subjects which could be detrimental for them.
“Besides not pointing out about past cases of severe human rights violation, they also do not speak of book confiscation that allegedly contains communism issue and persecution act against Ahmadiyah,” said Rivanlee in his office, Friday, January 11.
