TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander, Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto reminded his troops to prepare for the threat of urban warfare against terrorism upon his visit to the Army, Navy, and Air Force bases.
Hadi maintained that terrorism is a type of threat that can suddenly appear at any location, especially urban environments that have a stark difference compared to the traditional non-urban landscape. He asserts that this needs special attention from Indonesian armed forces.
“The enemies we encounter in a traditional warfare landscape are clear but when we engage in urban warfare, we face elements such as the general public and the terrorists themselves,” said Hadi at the Defense Ministry’s headquarters on Wednesday, January 16.
Therefore, Marshal Hadi said that troops must improve their abilities and equipment in handling urban warfare.
“We must start using Nanotechnology and non-lethal weapons such as high-frequency weaponry, thermal technology, infrared, and coordinates,” said the TNI Commander.
