TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Prabowo Subianto’s presidential election running-mate Sandiaga Uno announces that they will be respectful and not take on the offensive against incumbent candidate Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin in the presidential debate on Thursday, January 17.
“Pak Prabowo does not want us to attack each other. He wants everything to be done with respect and courteously as is our culture,” said Sandiaga Uno to a group of journalists at Lapangan Bulungan in South Jakarta today, January 16.

Sandiaga’s statement contradicts his own campaign team which actually advises both Prabowo and Sandiaga to aggressively charge the Jokowi camp with questions. However, this is rejected by Prabowo Subianto himself.
He explains that the questions will be derived from the social issues that are rising among Indonesians. “We will not be nitpicky. That is not the style of Prabowo-Sandi,” said Sandiaga Uno.
This strategy is a stark contrast to their rivals that have announced to adopt an aggressive style of debate that will mention several sensitive issues such as past activist kidnappings and a corruption case in a private sector.
