TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jokowi – Ma’ruf Amin campaign team deputy and debate coordinator Abdul Kadir Karding said his team will bring upon issues related to past activist kidnapping and PT Duta Graha Indah (PT DGI) corruption case in the upcoming presidential debate.
“The issue regarding kidnapping is an important one to help people not forget about a person’s track record. Implying that the nation must be led by a good individual,” said Karding when reached by journalists today, January 15.
Karding’s statement appeared to aim at Jokowi’s sole rival Prabowo Subianto, who actually responded to the allegations in an interview with Tempo Magazine that was published on October 2013.
“Sometimes in an administration, we are the tools to uphold the mission that was considered to be based on the best intentions. Once an administration changes, the new one will consider it an offense. At the time, I was merely an operator,” said Prabowo in the interview.
The Chairman of Indonesia’s opposition party Gerindra said that he had already been held accountable for his action. “I am not going anywhere, I am responsible, I will not go into hiding,” said Prabowo.
Karding’s second topic of discussion ready to be played by the Jokowi camp is a corruption case at PT DGI (now Nusa Konstruksi Enjiniring or NKE) where Prabowo’s running-mate Sandiaga Uno, once held a commissioner position.
