Police Confirm Bomb Threat on Two KPK Leaders

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police confirmed reports of two separate bomb threat that were aimed at two Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) higher-ups; Chairman Agus Rahardjo in Bekasi and Deputy Chairman Laode M. Syarif in South Jakarta.
“We are currently forming a team backed by the Densus 88 anti-terror team that will help solve the incident,” said the Indonesian National Police (Polri) spokesman Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo today at the Polri main headquarters in south Jakarta today.
According to witness testimony from Laode’s neighbor, a Molotov explosive device was seemingly ready to detonate early this morning at 05:30 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) in front of the KPK deputy chairman’s house.

The explosive device was first discovered by Bambang, Laode’s personal driver, just before Laode and his wife exited the house this morning. The street outside of his house was rather desolate at the time before two police personnel arrived 30 minutes after the Molotov was discovered.
“[Laode] was with his wife,” said the witness based on an official police report.
Meanwhile, a pipe bomb was found by security personnel which was laying in front of Agus’ house. The KPK Chairman was not present at the time of the incident. Police have currently mobilized a number of its personnel to guard both locations.
