TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar rebounded this morning, January 9.  As of 09:53 Jakarta time, rupiah rosed 25 points (0.18 percent) to trade for 14,123 per US dollar.

The rupiah rose following a 0.05 percent decline in the US dollar index.

On Tuesday January 8, the rupiah was depreciated 65 points or 0.46 percent to 14,148 per US dollar, ending the Garuda's three consecutive days of rally. 

The rupiah appreciates as the US dollar index, which measures the strength of the US dollar against a number of major currencies, dropped to the negative territory this morning. The index fell 0.09 percent or 0.086 points to 95.81.

The dollar index also fell to the red zone on Tuesday.
