Komnas HAM:No Aggressive Question in Upcoming Presidential Debate

8 January 2019 07:42 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairman of the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) Ahmad Taufan Damanik said questions that will be asked by panelists in the 2019 presidential debate is not designed to place a candidate at a tight spot and corner them.

Taufan is the first out of six experts appointed as a presidential debate panelist by the General Elections Committee (KPU). “We have agreed not to have questions to corner a candidate,” said Taufan to Tempo on Monday, January 7.

The questions that will be presented in the presidential debate are designed to entice the candidates upon presenting their ideas and solutions for strategic domestic issues. Taufan hopes that it would help candidates explore and elaborate their ideas to be better understood by the public.
