Rizieq Shihab Believed to Aid the Electability of Prabowo

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) politician Mardani Ali Sera believed that the support for presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto from Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) leader Rizieq Shihab will help boost Prabowo's electability in the 2019 presidential election.

"We are certain that Rizieq Shihab's support towards the number two presidential and vice presidential candidate [Prabowo – Sandiaga Uno] will have a significant effect from the solid members within the FPI and 212 movement," said Mardani when Tempo contacted him on Thursday, January 3, 2019.

Rizieq's initial support could be seen in one of his uploaded videos that were uploaded in Twitter. The video shows Rizieq in the middle of a group that consists of adults and children alike.

A poster containing the opposition's jargon "2019 change the president" could be seen brandished among the people followed by yells that demand a change in Indonesia's presidency.

However, Mardani claims he does not know the real intention behind the video that was uploaded by Rizieq Shihab but believes that the FPI leader is showing his support for Prabowo Subianto in the 2019 presidential election.
