TEMPO.CO, Denpasar - Entrepreneur association in Bali expressed their support towards the local government's policy on banning the use of disposable plastic bags across modern stores and shopping areas.
"All across the globe, plastic has become an environmental issue waiting to be met with a solution. We support that policy as long as it must be widely introduced and disseminated among the public," said Anak Agung Alit Wiraputra, Bali's Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman on Thursday, February 3, 2019.
Alit argued that such introductions are needed to help society as a whole let go of their dependence toward plastics. In the real world, there are still a number of shopping areas that hand out plastic bags to its consumers despite many written announcements regarding the plastic ban.
Previously on December 21, 2018, Bali Governor Wayan Koster issued a decree that requires producers, distributors, and suppliers in the region to replace, produce, distribute, and provide customers with a substitute upon replacing disposable plastics bags.
