KPU: Report on 7 Containers Full of Voted Ballot in Priok is Hoax

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The General Election Commission (KPU) affirmed that reports on 7 containers in Tanjung Priok Port storing voted ballots is a hoax. The KPU has checked the issue to the port where the news suggested.
“We have confirmed today to Customs and Excise Directorate General that issues about 7 containers is not true,” said KPU commissioner Arief Budiman in the office of customs and excise in Tanjung Priok, Jakarta, early Thursday, December 3.
Earlier, reports about 7 containers that loading casted ballots went viral. The cases reportedly arrived from China, each loading 10 million casted ballots for the presidential hopeful number 01 Jokowi-Ma’ruf.
Arief said the hoax news suggested that the containers were found by personnel of Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) Marine Corps and that KPU had confiscated them. “It is not true that TNI AL found it which then KPU seized. It is all hoax,” he underlined.
According to Arief, KPU was informed on the hoax on the evening at around 18:00 local times, yet the news was spread earlier.
A politician from Democrat Party, Andi Arief, mentioned the issue through his Twitter account @AndiArief_ on late Wednesday, at 20:05 local times. However, the post had been removed when Tempo checked it at 21:30 local times. Asked for confirmation, Andi attached an online news link that mentioned his tweet.
