BPJS Sex Scandal, Jokowi Urged to Be Proactive

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - BPJS Watch advocacy coordinator Timboel Siregar called on President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to immediately follow-up on the resignation of an official of the Worker’s Social Security Agency (BPJS ketenagakerjaan) involved in an alleged sex scandal.
Timboel believes that the BPJS official in question, Syafri Adnan Baharuddin, has violated Article 34 from Law No. 24/2011 overseeing social security administrators.

“This means that Syafri Adnan Baharuddin’s resignation must be followed-up with an immediate replacement to support activities within the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan,” said Timboel at the police’s criminal investigation agency (Bareskrim) headquarters today.

Previous reports said Syafri was expressing his willingness to resign from the agency during a press conference on Sunday, December 30, 2018.
Syafri was accused of perpetrating a sexual assault on his former secretary, RA (27), who has reported the alleged crime at the police’s Bareskrim .
