TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The spokesperson for the National Campaign Agency (BPN) of Prabowo Subianto - Sandiaga Uno, Irfan Yusuf Hasyim, said the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair number 02 had committed not to use identity politics in the 2019 presidential election.
According to Irfan, Prabowo-Sandi will always campaign to voice a productive vision and mission.
“Thank God, the identity politics has begun to diminish, every time I accompany Pak Prabowo and Bang Sandi to the regions, it almost no longer exists,” said Irfan at the year-end reflection program on Jalan Sriwijaya, Jakarta, Monday, December 31.
According to Irfan, his camp tried to avoid identity politics.
“We understand that this is not a competition between NU (Nahdlatul Ulama) and non-NU,” he said.
In the future, he added, Prabowo and Sandiaga would be more focused on delivering economic programs that would be carried out if they won the 2019 presidential election.
The economic programs are the answer to the problems experienced by people at the grassroots level such as farmers, laborers, and housewives.
“When we visit the regions, there must be complaints from residents, especially from farmers,” he said.
Many farmers complained about the government, which is still importing. Indonesia is the country with the longest coastline in the world but still imports salt.
“There are even some types of fish that we import and this is a complaint of Indonesians in the countryside,” he said.
He also affirmed, if Prabowo-Sandiaga becomes president and vice president, they will try to reduce the import of commodities that can be produced in Indonesia.
