TEMPO.CO, JakartaRagunan Wildlife Park, South Jakarta, noted the number of visits during the holiday period of 2018 Christmas and 2019 New Year reached 693,528 people.

“From December 22, 2018, to January 1, 2019,” said a spokesman for Ragunan, Ketut Widarsana, Wednesday, January 2.

“It’s higher than our target,” Ketut said. The number, said Ketut, was also higher than last year with the same period, which was 654,312 people.

According to him, with a total visit of almost 700,000 tourists, it contributed to retribution of more than Rp3.6 billion in the period of 2018 Christmas and 2019 New Year.

According to Ketut, the number of visitors on Tuesday, January 1, reached 116,096 tourists. This number is below the target set, which is 180,000 people.

“We estimate that yesterday will be the peak. Apparently not,” he said.

“The peak occurred last Sunday, the number of visits reached 124,000 people,” he added.

Ketut explained, usually the highest tourist visits every new year holiday coincided on January 1. In fact, on January 1, 2015, the number of visits had reached 200,000 people.

The Ragunan’s number of visits, Ketut said, is often determined by weather conditions. Since yesterday morning, he said, the weather in Jakarta was cloudy, until late afternoon.

“This weekend, it is estimated that tourist visits to Ragunan will still be crowded,” he said.
