TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The villa businessmen and managers in the area of Puncak-Cipanas, Cianjur, West Java, complained that there were very few visitors during the long year-end holiday.
“This long year-end holiday is the worst compared to the previous year. At the very least, there were visitors who occupied four to five villas. But this year, not one villa has been occupied,” said Ujang Dedi, manager of dozens of villas in Sukatani village, Pacet sub-district, to reporters Tuesday, January 1.
Dedi and other villa managers suspect that the decline in the number of visits is due to a number of factors such as the unfinished repair of roads in the Puncak area and the closure of the route to Puncak-Cianjur from Bogor and Cianjur, as well as the issue of the earthquake and natural disasters.
“A few weeks before, there are already several bookings, but they canceled because the issue of natural disasters threatened the Puncak area. Our hope for the future is that there will be no more issues and the number of visits will continue to increase,” he said.
The same thing was recognized by various-class hotel managers in the Puncak area, the target of the rooms they had, was fully occupied, only reached 80 percent, which declined compared to the previous year.
“This year the occupancy rate has dropped dramatically. Of the hundreds of rooms available, only 70 percent are rented, most of them are old customers from Greater Jakarta. One of the causes is repair of the main road that has not been completed,” said Faith, a star hotel staff on Jalan Raya Cipanas-Puncak.
